Event Details

The 2011 Art Chic@s Open House and Reception will showcase work created at the La Reunion TX site by six local artists assisted by Dallas-area high school students. Students learn from this experience about the creative process, about logistics, and about art as a profession.

This year, for the first time, male artists are being teamed with high-school boys to create a site-specfic installation. Art Chicas and Art Chicos work on separate days but will come together to show their work at this Open House.  But not only will they show their work, some will also be performing their work.

The artists: Bernardo Diaz, Art Garcia, Aralyn McGregor, Lyndsey Rieple, Emily Riggert and Jennifer Sereno.

Thanks to our sponsors and Mentor Madres and Padres: Zaida Basora, Sally Horchow, Jessica Stewart Lendvay, Leslie MacLean, Julie Porter, Lucilo Peña, Catherine Rose, Barry Whistler/Allison V Smith, the Hall Foundation, UNT Dallas and Eventbrite. And thanks to our Honorary Chair, The Honorable Elba Garcia, who will join us for the event, and to all of the volunteers who make this event happen.

Art Chic@s is a collaboration of La Reunion TX, the Dallas Art Dealers Association and the Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas.

The exact location, the LRTX site in west Oak Cliff, will be sent by email a few days before the event.  Long pants, long sleeves and sturdy shoes are a must: this is an as-yet-undeveloped site.  We're working on it!
